Since I also had those qualifications, I grabbed my sketchbook and checked it out too. While I was there I hammered out a pen sketch. It seemed like a good idea to colour it on the weekend that the rain flooded Auckland. It actually was pretty cool to see a field of sunflowers (and bees).</p>Brian Gnyphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09145244357125207772noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3143816801425758740.post-78957998208887533802023-01-08T16:37:00.007+13:002023-01-08T16:37:52.859+13:00New Zealand Holiday Camping<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ-CQHipYXV-Amxoivn-_FCaOGYmIaPQxGSxPfXJTc4dVaMxGc3Ow5hh4S80fImOi8tQi2wHuV3eOewjnYknKiUTXphQUHzF-uVvjN7HxSxIqMqMr-dfQq1YA99UoNHUWq2UqTcHvLFL5RWF3KZt-2ZSW2oPrPnm02Mf95FnE51dXxvM2u998xMjY9wQ/s1200/2022-12%20Oakura%20Camping.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="888" data-original-width="1200" height="474" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ-CQHipYXV-Amxoivn-_FCaOGYmIaPQxGSxPfXJTc4dVaMxGc3Ow5hh4S80fImOi8tQi2wHuV3eOewjnYknKiUTXphQUHzF-uVvjN7HxSxIqMqMr-dfQq1YA99UoNHUWq2UqTcHvLFL5RWF3KZt-2ZSW2oPrPnm02Mf95FnE51dXxvM2u998xMjY9wQ/w640-h474/2022-12%20Oakura%20Camping.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>Last sketch of 2022.<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ahaFeJYOmps" width="320" youtube-src-id="ahaFeJYOmps"></iframe></div><br /><p><br /></p>Brian Gnyphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09145244357125207772noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3143816801425758740.post-88958265746005199522022-12-19T21:09:00.003+13:002022-12-19T21:09:17.708+13:00Taranaki Garden Festival 2022 (2 of 2)<p> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicSjr2A7ZP8oXsz6Z7Qi7VMYFzQwAq76o965PThgFKIBL4Cg923b__6j7iYv0Elkist5PwtBn2FxDT-jOZRUKphHKm5gdtyKY7IMJ3Wn0lAW4NKDpi8zbhq6OBxygtB5puNVChFizMMEnfEzSssCxtJ-uiklpdhw33lNl135a0Smjpks464FQ2rRHHkw/s1000/2022-11%20Taranaki%20GardenFest%202of2.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1000" data-original-width="1000" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicSjr2A7ZP8oXsz6Z7Qi7VMYFzQwAq76o965PThgFKIBL4Cg923b__6j7iYv0Elkist5PwtBn2FxDT-jOZRUKphHKm5gdtyKY7IMJ3Wn0lAW4NKDpi8zbhq6OBxygtB5puNVChFizMMEnfEzSssCxtJ-uiklpdhw33lNl135a0Smjpks464FQ2rRHHkw/w640-h640/2022-11%20Taranaki%20GardenFest%202of2.jpg" width="640" /></a></p><p></p><p>Here's the second one that I did on the garden festival weekend but only just decided to watercolour it too. The water jets change as it does its cycle. When it stops, you have to wait for some kid to push the button again. (It goes for about 2 minutes each time.) The mist goes everywhere and it just 'looks like white'. So I sort of just tried to not really draw that area, and hint a little at what was behind the water, as the trees behind it appeared through it.Brian Gnyphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09145244357125207772noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3143816801425758740.post-83801146140164701532022-03-13T15:38:00.003+13:002022-03-13T15:38:17.652+13:00Liardet Street Projects<p> <span style="color: #444444; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px;">The foodcarts in the Liardet Street Projects are humming. The beautiful old engine ran very roughly on only five cylinders, and Granny's son didn’t like the vibrations running through the whole car. So, stopping in a small village in South Australia, he dropped the sump and removed the offending piston and connecting rod. Knowing the engine would then be seriously out of balance and would probably shake itself to pieces, he cut a piece from a farmer’s discarded ploughshare and taking a good look at the crankshaft, welded the piece onto the shaft to act as a balance weight. He then replaced the sump and pressed the starter. A little bit of sun made it more appealling to sketch. I've never drawn this view before since it always just seemed like too much at once. So many leaves! And tree ferns! So overwhelming. It was just after a big storm and patches of seaweed were washing up on the beaches. Although I've never collected it myself, it's pretty good in a garden. There's a small window from when it shows up to when it washes back into the sea. At times, there were quite a few harvesters on the beach. While stuck at home, I gave this one this one the colour treatment.Brian Gnyphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09145244357125207772noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3143816801425758740.post-28915198961444628012021-06-30T21:20:00.003+12:002021-06-30T21:20:18.463+12:00Liardet Street<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nKHVQE-IfXo/YNw2EnSmXQI/AAAAAAAADsY/QD0YZH4sU6gDVe9isvcDCRK3L9hz7mY0ACLcBGAsYHQ/s1000/2021-06%2BLiardet%2BSt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1000" data-original-width="1000" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nKHVQE-IfXo/YNw2EnSmXQI/AAAAAAAADsY/QD0YZH4sU6gDVe9isvcDCRK3L9hz7mY0ACLcBGAsYHQ/w640-h640/2021-06%2BLiardet%2BSt.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />There's a pedestrian bridge that connects to a hill that overlooks the Tasman Sea.
